Tarasov Works Incorporated:
travelling from the past to the future


Everything in our life has its own beginning, its own reference point, which, being overcome, turns an event into the history. The plant has its own biography, phases of formation, like a human being. 

For the first time in the history of the country, the plant was designed by the state institute «Giproavtoprom» on its own. For the domestic motorcar industry being created at that time, the carburetors were needed, as they cost millions gold rubles disbursed to «Ford». 

«Not a farthing to «Ford» — let us create soviet carburetor!» - it was a motto of plant-builders. 

1934 


In May 1934, in the foundry the cupola has started its work, the first melt was received. The first production of the plant: lubricating plugs, grease-cups, and a small lot of carburetors appeared October, 4, 1934. This date is considered to be the birthday of the Kuibyshev carburetor-armature plant. In October, 1934 young engineer Alexander Michailovich Tarasov submitted to the international contest in Moscow a new diesel-pump, worked out by designers of the plant. Among 32 diesel-pumps that took part in the contest, the diesel-pump of Kuibyshev carburetor-armature plant appeared to be the best and was recommended to the large-scale manufacture. 

1948 


By the end of 1938 Kuibyshev carburetor-armature plant had reached its full power, had started producing spark-plugs for the motor-car industry and for the auto park of the country.

1941 


June, 22, 1941 the plant passed to the state of martial law. In August the equipment of the Leningrad carburetor plant with its full staff was evacuated onto the territory of the plant. In November - of the Moscow plant of autotractor electrical equipment.

1942 


October, 23, 1942, according to the directions of the Soviet of people's commissars, those three plants were united and named «Kuibyshev plant of autotractor electrical equipment».

1944 


October, 28, 1944, according to the edict of the president of the USSR Supreme Soviet, the plant was rewarded a Lenin's order. 

1950 


The plant increased the output of electrical equipment and carburetors and supplied new models of cars GAZ-53, ZIS-150, Moscvich and Pobeda with its production. The plant started production of the range of articles that was more powerful while having less mass.

1955 


Since 1955 the plant was assigned a specialization and its range of products was shrunk to five items, namely: alternators, starters, dyna-stators, magneto spark-plugs. The 1950s are one of the most important milestones in the history of the plant. For the first time in USSR the plant workers started production of alternators, more economical, simple and fail-safe. The first alternators were designed for the buses ZIS-127, LiAZ-158. The alternators' designers were M.I.Sapelkin, U.S. Malov, L.I.Borodachev, N.G.Drozdova, V.I. Vasilevsky.

1963


In 1963 a new alternator G108 production was started in large quantities. It replaced G21, because of being more metal- saving and because of being assembled using new impulse conveyor. A conveyor of the same type was installed for the production of the starters STZ. 

1967 


For the first time in the country an alternator G250 with embedded rectifier was launched into large-scale production. On the basis of that alternator a group of unified alternators for GAZ, MAZ, KrAZ, KamAZ vehicles was created.Because of the construction of Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod (Volga motor-car plant), according to the government decision, the plant became the principal supplier of electrical equipment for future «Zhiguli» cars. 

1970 


In May, 1970 in the small sector the large-scale production of new kinds of alternators and starters for Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod, so it appeared to be necessary to reconstruct the manufacture significantly. 

1975 


In 1975, for the first time in USSR, the new generator G266 was designed and its production was started. G266 had embedded rectifier and voltage regulator on the hybrid integrated scheme. June, 25, 1975 the plant was named after Alexander Michailovich Tarasov, and its name became Kuybyshevsky zavod avtotraktornogo electro'oborudovania (Kuibyshev plant of autotractor electrical equipment), KZATE.

1984 


The enterprise was rewarded with the order of Labour Red Banner for starting production of new kinds of articles.

1990 


In September, 1990 on the base of KZATE, Kuibyshevskoje proizvodstvennoe objedinenie «Autotractorelectrooborudovanie» was created.

1993 


In June, 1993, KZATE was transformed into the joint stock company. The enterprise regularly takes part in different exhibitions, including international ones. Its production and its designers were rewarded with different diplomas and medals. For the achievements in the Western Europe market the plant was awarded «International Award for the Best Trade Name».

1994 


May, 17, 1994, according to the contracts with the property fund of Samara region, the property of KZATE was made over to joint stock company «Tarasov Works Incorporated». In the same year, the plant was awarded the «Gold Star for Quality» in Spain.

1999 


December, 30 in «Khard» the new assembling area for starters 7162.3708 (for Daewoo «Nexia») was opened.

2000 


From 16 to 18 May in Moscow, on the International conference on quality management, JSC «TWI» obtained a certificate on its quality system due to the international standard «ISO-9001».

2002 


The JSC «TWI» was reorganized. The daughter enterprises JSC «ZEIM» and JSC «SMU «TWI» were included into the structure of the plant.
